  • Price outrageous

I started using this program back in college when my class were their ginuea pigs. Paid for it annually for a bit because it was nice to connect and find family. The current plan is ridiculously priced! Might as well use chat gpt and search at the library.

  • Limited and needs work

Years later, and this app is extremely limited and buggy. As expensive as Ancestry is, you would think they would have a better app, with better features and less bugs. When you try to add a result through the search feature on someone, it adds the incorrect item. It will randomly close, and the features aren’t nearly what they are on the desktop app. They keep increasing the membership price, but obviously aren’t spending it on the mobile app, or even the website, which has better features but also buggy and could be much better. Also, the app should allow you to pick the collections available on ancestry. Many records are missed due to incorrect transcription or variations in spelling. The search is extremely lacking and try’s to do it for someone instead of allowing the person to dig through records, which is how a lot of brick walls are torn down. Most of the “hints” are other people’s tree, which a lot of times, can be incorrect.
  • Updates Have Serious Downsides

I like what I think Ancestry is trying to provide as far as improvements, but they have serious limitations. Frequently only part of a field provides an update whereas my current value in another component in the field is better than what the source is providing. For example, a birthdate has a date and a location. If I have a good location, but want the better date, I lose what I have for the location and have to re-enter it, even if the new value is blank! It would be good, like on the website, to have the option to revert back to the original value when entering data from the new source.
  • Why don’t they listen?

There are some easy tweaks that would make ancestry.com better. I wish their leadership would listen.
  • Annoyed by products

I had been a long subscriber. I retired. I noticed I no longer had auto renewal with a cc. So I didn’t renew for months. I us ed features I didn’t have to pay for. Now my dna is a free product you use. I shouldn’t have to pay for dna parent breakdown. You should provide the information I had already paid for. I am a product you don’t get to make money on me forever.
  • Over charging and took away a lot of services

When you try to see how you are related to a relative and by who they now make you pay rather than making you pay for a deep dive only. Took away a lot of services
  • Family Tree Gone!

They erased my family tree history going back to the 1600s so I would have to pay for a membership. It took me a long time to find that information and now, poof, all gone.
  • 3 months and still counting

The title says it all. My kit was received January 4th and I still have no results. I have tried reaching out to customer service yet the link to talk to customer service never works and that “Leaf” assistant is completely useless. Verrrry disappointing.
