  • You have to pay to be able to rewind or fast forward.

I have never seen anything so greedy and miserly as paywalling the ability to rewind. There is good content in the app, but good luck to you if you want to pause and reflect—as an app with supportive content would encourage. You can discard your session and start over, which isn’t always practical and certainly isn’t respectful of the user’s time. I have no problem with their paywalling premium content, as 99.99% of other apps do. Apps cost money to program and maintain and that must come from somewhere. But paywalling the ability to rewind 15 seconds can only be explained by naked avarice. It’s disgusting.

I miss how simple this app used to be. When I sit down to meditate I would prefer to open the app directly to the timer and presets. The primary focus of the app has shifted to becoming a platform for recorded teachings and guided meditations and the social media component seems antithetical to the initial purpose of the app. I wouldn’t have a problem with these extra bells and whistles if they were set more in the background of the actual timer. And from a GUI point of view it’s annoying to have to click through several pages before getting to the function I want. That said the functionality and options for the timer are great and despite my complaints about the focus of the app it is a vast resource for teachings and guided meditations.

I use this app a lot, several times each morning to time my exercises. Used to be, there was just one button at the end to “FINISH”! now? There are three questions each time, unless I hit a milestone and then there are an additional 4. I’m now using other apps most of the time because of this issue.

I’m grateful for Insight Timer. It has been my companion in mindfulness for many years now. I love the diverse and ever expanding number of teachers. I love that I can search by topic and read reviews to decide if that meditation is what I need at that moment. I use playlists to organize my favorites by topic, and bookmarks for meditations I want to try later. I also appreciate the courses so I can learn in greater depth over time. Thank you for organizing and maintaining this platform. It’s one of my healthiest habits. 🙏🏼

I do like this app. There are many good teachers. I took a subscription and I thought I would have some features like sorting tracks based on reading, removing tracks from recents etc. It’s hard to even do such things. If these add these features, I would continue my subscription not otherwise. Yes you can bookmark and save in folders. Someone’s I forget which folder I have put it in. Then I have to scroll through recent tracks to find it. It’s hard to manage or navigate through or preview tracks.

This app was recommended to me by my therapist LCSW. I had not the best experiences when it came to meditation. This was my last attempt and I felt relief and connected to my body and spirit. I will create a space for this practice
