  • So many headaches

The controller forgets my account every time I log in. I had to factory reset my Play:3 and Play:5 constantly. I also have to bring them to my router and plug them in which is very inconvenient for their final locations. Sick of the app and these ridiculous processes.

Extreme beta testing feel when you try to use these products attached to this version in the mid 2020s. Glad the products sound well once you get them going but the user authentication process for various steps is abysmal.

S1 Controller ver 11.16.1 Today in morning I opened the S1 controller on iOS, and it just shows a screen that showing a button to open the S2 app. No way to dismiss it. This happens on a Windows machine too. On a MacBook the app says that there was a change in the firewall. There was no change in the Firewall; the Sonos system has allow connections.

And they know it. They screwed up not making all products backward compatible. So if you're buying a new system, buy on FB MP or elsewhere. You can get components for pennies on the dollar. Or just look at other alternatives. Man what a great company this was a decade ago.

This is a great app. You don’t have to get up and get down. You can control it right from your phone and believe me. It’s so easy.
  • A must for older Sonos equipment

If you have the option for running your system on S1 - DO IT! It is worth the “downgrade” if you accidentally upgraded to S2. My system of speakers (2016-2020) all work beautifully on S1. On S2, I would get a lot of dropped music, with no clear explanation why. I’m finally happy with my system again!
  • This app blows (maybe just with youtube music)

Pairing an account on youtube music to Sonos, who do not just provide a clear way to just use BLUETOOTH has brought me to the edge of despair. When you finally pair an account after a 15 step verification, the app itself will become so buggy you cant use your own playlist- god forbid someone elses. I just searched beyonce in the browse function and was told “no results found” this app has hindered my listening experience countless times until i get a new device i primarily listen to my ipad speaker. Why? Why, with all the talent in the world can’t you guys make an app that isn’t glitchy and works consistently?

I have had Sonos receivers since the first generation. The moment they came out, I was on board someone who appreciates music as much as I do, and likes to have different moods for different rooms in the house. I thought it was MR made in heaven. However, I don’t think the early generation speakers we’re set up to handle the expansion that would follow, in the system has never worked consistently since day one and we are talking closer to a decade. Every time there seems to be an update/upgrade. The system breaks down. It’s not possible for me to purchase all next generation speakers as I have eight already situated throughout the house. Countless times on big nights like house parties or Christmas system would break down, go dead, or forced me to work off of one speaker. It’s simply too late for me to go trash, the whole system will move on to a Bose, but I found myself using my portable speaker and simply carrying it with me from room to room out of frustration. This last breakdown, I literally went three months before I finally could relax enough to contact Support again and try to fix my system for one last time. The representative was friendly and helpful and we did manage to get the system working (for now). We will see how long this latest fix works before I need to contact Support again. In the meantime, I have a second generation speaker which I received as a gift, but of course it does not work with my current system so I have eight speakers online and one that does not work. Overall, the concept was brilliant, but the execution has been horrible.
