5 stars for concept, -2 for app bugs and UX issues. Yay for fixing the audio issue, I can now hear audio while phone set to silent! Except in livestream mode. :sad trombone:x Feed seems to update with latest postcards inconsistently. We shouldn’t have to force quit an app to reset our feed to current. Feature request: toggle on/off postcard save button. If you’re relying on us to do unpaid RLHF work (yikes), allow us to mass rename a series of photos, rather than painfully one at a time. Expose the rename feature rather than burying bird species editing feature in the collections view.

My daughter got us this feeder for Christmas because she always gets the best gifts somehow, and knows we love birding. This rig gets really nice pics and videos with sound. The birds started hitting it the same day I put it out, with a titmouse chirping loudly right into the camera. The AI feature doesn’t figure out very well, but you can edit what it doesn’t get. Definitely a fun thing to have. The solar roof is a definite must unless you don’t mind pulling out the camera and charging it. It seems to charge well, even in sub-zero temperatures like we’re seeing. The Bird Buddy App is pretty cool, but it’s designed to wring cash out of you like most apps. If you want to share the camera with others, you have to pay extra, so I just send clips and pics to people. Update: Squirrels found it after a week or so and bit the wire through in two places because there’s a cable loop that sticks out for the solar roof charger. I ended up drilling a hole through the sub-roof and routing the cable inside after I soldered on a new end.

I’ve had my Bird Buddy for a couple of months and I’m loving it. There are a couple of things I find frustrating about the app that I hope the developers could work on: 1. When I edit the species, I remove “mystery” and just put the species I’ve just observed. And yet after I save it, it still includes the mystery visitor and any incorrect identification I JUST REMOVED in what it posts. 2. I’d love a “usual suspects” feature that recognizes that there are only four species I’ve ever spotted and allows me to have a handy list with those on it when I edit species. That way I don’t have to type “chest” and then scroll to the very bottom of the list for the Chestnut-Backed Chickadee, literally the only species with “chest” or “chestnut” in its name that has ever come to my feeder.

App needs some work. Intermittent issues connecting (router is approx 10-12 feet from feeder). Friends not all getting same videos.
  • Very bad purchase

This is the second feeder we have received. The first would never ever connect. So sent it back. Received the second one and it no better. The feeder will not connect and it’s extremely expensive just to watch a bird. I even bought the subscription and can’t get a refund for that either. Take my advice and DONT DO THIS.
