  • Just one feature short of five stars

I love StoryGraph and have been using it since its inception. My only complaint is that I wish it had a better camera search feature like goodreads. This app would be perfect if you could search for books by scanning the covers with your camera.

I wrote a review in January because the app wouldn’t allow me to create an account. StoryGraph responded to my review and had fixed the bug. Now I’m loving the app! I made an account and really like all the features that this reading tracker has when compared with good reads. Love the rating system allows decimal reviews, love the catered suggestions (not just popular books ads like on good reads), love content warnings, and I’m excited to try out the book club feature. All around a wonderful switch from good reads.
  • For books in English only

The app seems great, and I love that they have a more nuanced, intentional way to make reading recommendations, but I’m heartbroken that if you read anything outside English, it’s not a very usable app. Almost none of the very popular books in Spanish I tried to add were available through their catalog and you can’t filter by language. Unfortunately, I think because of this, I’ll likely delete the app.
  • It’s a work in progress

So I actually had this app before it was popular, but deleted it bc it was too buggy. I recently redownloaded it bc I found out the developer is Black. Im glad I gave it a second chance bc it IS better. That being said, the UI/UX is still a little clunky. Updating progress in a book is a little unintuitive. In my opinion, this should be the easiest and fastest thing to do next to searching/adding a book. Maybe a button/dropdown that says “update progress” or something to that effect, rather than having to click the % read. I will say that the stats, graphs, and reviews features are dope! I’ll be sticking around this time, so looking forward to seeing how the app progresses

Nice app worth the investment for tracking your reading and wish list. I like the ability to tag books as “owned” and to select “up next” to decide what your reading order is going to be. Still a slower app, but a massive catalog with an online website to companion. A few of the books may have duplicate entries and several odd books might not have cover images. I like that you can upload a cover image to help complete to look. Great app. Great investment and app to support to move away from larger corporations in the same space.

  • Great app, bad UI/UX

I switched over from goodreads to use storygraph because I like the features and simplicity. However, the UI needs a lot of work. I had to google how to find all the books I’ve read because I could find it in the menu. When I’d click on the my profile tab to find my “recently read”, it would show me notifications, I had to click on my profile again while looking at the notifications for the app to acknowledge that I saw the notifications in order for it to show me my actual profile page. Why? Put the notifications somewhere else, I downloaded this app to get away from the social aspect of goodreads and in order to see all of my read books, I need to read my notifications first? Look, goodreads was not perfect by any means, but I never had problems looking for stuff as I do using this app. The UI is clunky and needs an overhaul.

Love the statistics given about your books/reading habits and the end-of-the-year reading wraps!
  • Phenomenal

Absolutely everything I needed and so much more! Initially just wanted a way to track what I’d read. The thorough stat tracking alone is beyond what I expected- the book recommendations, challenges, and community building is fantastic. I cannot recommend this app enough!

I love the app and have been using it for 2 years now, as someone who reads a lot of different series I wish there was a feature to track the completion percentage of different series’.
