Description

Everything you need to know about introducing solid food to babies with baby-led weaning or within a transition from spoon feeding to finger foods. Learn how to safely introduce more than 300 foods to baby. Each food has free detailed nutrition information, choking & allergen guidance, specific instructions on how to cut and serve the food based on baby's age, videos of real babies eating the food, and more. The Solid Starts app has been devised by a team of doctors, feeding specialists, swallowing specialists, and dieticians. Quickly search for a food (eggs, chicken, strawberries, anything!) and feel confident in exactly how to prepare it for baby. Want to track foods or access recipes? With a paid subscription, you can record baby's progress with a digital food log, track baby's favourite foods, make a list of foods you'd like to try later, and track any foods baby has had a reaction to which you can share with doctors and caregivers. Subscribers also have access to a searchable database of more than 300 recipes. This app will be a crucial tool to help you to raise a healthy, happy eater, avoid picky eating, and enjoy family meals!

  • Poor form removing the recipe suggestion.

Removing the simple recipe suggestion was a poor decision, I won’t use the app anymore after they did that, I just google it now. Those recipes mostly just told me how long to cook something. I already have their books with better recipes, but removing that very simple but helpful feature just put a sour taste in my mouth. Poor form Solid Starts.
  • Great so far, but wish the online resources were integrated!

I just started using this app since my baby is just about to start solids, and it seems like a great resource so far! My main feedback/wish is that the Solid Starts Bundle resources (videos/guides) that I paid for could be available within the app, to have it all in one place. The app is a nice database but it would be great to not have to navigate to the solid starts website in a browser every time I want to find the videos and guides.
  • Wish it had more foods available to log

As a new mom, this app provides a wealth of knowledge. I love all the tips and guidance for serving. My only complaint is that the food list needs to be more expansive. There have been a few times I have put an item in the search only to find it isn’t available to log.
  • Records just disappeared

I recorded several months of food and it disappeared all at once, such terrible software.
  • Best app to find intel but can improve on tracking

I really like the variety and amount of information you have on the app. But it’d be even better if you could make the tracking easier! No joke I would pay more to get the function. It now takes me more than five clicks to log a food (fine the food, select the food, click on the date, select the date, click out and save). And it is so tedious as my kid is having more variety of food every day. Could you consider adding the below functions: 1/ allow copying food from the previous day from calendar view 2/ allow adding food directly from the calendar view, and show the food already tried so users can easily select Thank you!
  • Now missing nutrition ratings… was our favorite feature

Moved to two stars based on developer note. The food star ratings were massively helpful. Without those the app has limited value over a google search. Won’t be buying again. Ymmv. We have the paid version and all of a sudden the 1-5 star nutrition ratings are missing. Was so helpful and now the app is far less useful.
  • Great content, garbage functionality

The content of the app is very useful, I love being able to look up how to cut foods and age appropriate recipes. However it’s a crapshoot if I can actually access the upgraded features I’ve paid for or not. There have been multiple times where I’m not able to log in because of a server error. I’ve contacted support about it and the only solution I’m given is to uninstall and reinstall the app. This is a bandaid resolution and the root issue needs to be addressed.
  • We use it daily!

I loveeee this app. Trust me, it’s a game changer. There is only one disappointing thing — we can’t log our own foods unless they are listed in their list of available foods, which is a bummer. For instance, when my daughter had tahini, it doesn’t show up in her log or total foods because it’s not an option in the app. Bummer! But, otherwise, I adore this app!
  • Good info, but glitchy

There’s a lot of helpful info and I’m excited to keep exploring it. I’ve also encountered several issues since I downloaded earlier this evening. - The app has already crashed several times (at least 5). - The filter to filter out allergens doesn’t work. Cream cheese, quark and other dairy items were included in food results after I restricted the search to 6mo+ with no dairy and no soy. - The search function that a previous reviewer had mentioned still has the same issue (the preview foods are not related to what you are typing, so you need to type the entire word before the item comes up). The info is still good, but the fact that I ran into all of these after very little use is disappointing.
