IN-APP BROWSER WITH LIVE PREVIEW Quickly save a recipe while browsing: If Mela detects a recipe on the currently viewed page, it will be displayed in Mela's native recipe viewer*, on the same screen on the iPad and a swipe-left away on the iPhone. Once you put your recipe in Mela you will no longer be able to copy the text. I wanted to print some of the recipes on 4x6 cardstock but I cannot select the text from my own recipe. So I cannot paste. The formatting of the built in print function is only for full page. Can’t modify it. I feel like I’ve been robbed of my recipes. Also why is the search box not floating above the list. I have to scroll back up through 150 recipes to get back to the search box. Overall a disappointment. I will get the recipes printed on cards and probably be done with digital storage of my recipes. Some things are not improved by technology.

It strikes the perfect balance for my own needs of being streamlined/simple enough for frictionless casual usage, while also offering several more advanced features for us combination power users / home cooks. I’m also so grateful for any app you can buy for a one-time fee rather than being locked into a subscription model. In this day and age, this is one of the few developers who I still trust to always deliver beautifully designed apps at reasonable prices.
  • Printing broken after iOS update

I just updated to iOS 26 and the ability to control what gets included in the print menu is now gone. I usually uncheck the photo to save ink and the description to keep the recipe to one page, now I can’t do that anymore!
  • Looks promising.

This app does what I wish Pestle did which is have a great meal planning feature which separates Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for calendar blocking. I even appreciate the small widget which looks amazing. The only thing this app lacks is the Start Cooking feature that Pestle has which is amazing. This app does it in a barebones way.

When my wife showed me this, I thought to myself “what made this app so special?” I enjoy cooking but usually have to go to several different places to find existing recipes. My bookmarks on my phone. Notes in my phone. Cookbooks, etc. This app however shines through with its amazing organizational system of laying out recipes. Additionally the ability to detect and extract recipes from scanning a recipe to even websites is amazing! What adds even more value is the ability to push an entire recipe to your grocery list, and the ability to add popular food blogs to your feed so recipes can be displayed for a summarized yet personal listing of recipes you may be interested in. Very intuitive and versatile app. Game changing!
  • Amazing for saving recipes, but lacking features for meal planning

It’s so nice to pull recipes from websites without having to scroll through paragraphs and ads. It makes the recipe search so efficient! However, I wish the grocery list was categorized and allowed for pantry tracking. If these two features were added, this would be the ultimate meal planning app. I would make another one-time purchase for either of these features if they were added. Another plus would be receipt scanning.

Thanks for bringing us the best recipe manager with no subscriptions (aka the Apple tax).
  • Import scan could be better

The only downfall is adding a new recipe from scan. I have been using Recipe Keeper and it has a much better process for importing and scanning new recipes. It should be like adding from a website.

I rarely write app reviews let alone 5 star reviews. This one is deserving. I wish I had it years ago! If I find a recipe I copy the link, paste it into the app browser and bada bing bada boom I have the recipe with a picture saved. No more pdfs! The one-time purchase is well worth it! A customized, personalized, and expandable cookbook of only the recipes you want for $8.
