  • Can’t adjust serving sizes

There is a toggle to adjust serving sizes, but nothing happens to the recipe when this is selected. I am only just not trying to use the app, but this is an important feature. I don’t want to waste my time or money if this does not work

The best I’ve found! Just pay for it! It’s worth the $6.99!
  • Best Recipe App?

I really like Mela. The only reason I don’t rate a 5 star is the format and flexibility of the Grocery List. I use Apple Notes for all my shopping lists. I would like to be able to copy and paste Melas Grocery List into Notes. You cannot select the entire list and copy and paste.
  • Amazing but wishing for one more feature

The layout and functionality of this app is amazing. It makes meal planning super simple. My wife and I share a recipe collection and try to share a calendar to do meal planning for the week together. The app doesn’t provide much for calendar sync between two accounts. We are able to each share our iCloud calendar with each other but have had some issues with functionality. It would be nice to be able to share the calendar in the app just as we can share the recipe collection. Being said we have really enjoyed the app and plan to use it for a long time.
  • BEST among so many!

As someone who cooks daily for my family and as someone who have used many recipe managers for the past 10 years, I can say confidently that Mela is by far the most beautiful, functional, well-designed recipe manager app I’ve ever used. The interface is gorgeous, clean and user friendly. It’s like having my own personalized cookbook that grows with me. The meal planning feature is a joy to use letting me plan days or even weeks ahead. The app has brought all my scattered recipes in one simple elegant place. I love “feeds” section where new recipes are downloaded from my favorite cooks (Nagi at recipetins eats, for example). I can’t recommend this app highly enough to anyone who loves to cook!

Really like it but wondering if you’ll be adding the ability to update the app icon? Would love a few different options, even just color variations.
  • AMAZING - but

I love this app so much, wish my mom could use it but she doesn’t have an iPhone - the only thing I’ve come to want from this app is maybe like a spot where recommended “feeds” otherwise I don’t use it. But most importantly i wish the grocery list was categorized and or bundled up multiples from more than one recipe.
  • The best recipe app!

  • Inaccessible organization but impressive otherwise

I've tried a bunch of recipe apps and this one is a standout, overall well worth the price, though some organizational features are unintuitive and lacking. Primarily, the main navigational pane that lets you filter views is weirdly inaccessible. It would be intuitive if I could access the pane by swiping from the left side of the screen, but instead, you have to locate one of two small buttons in the corners. Similarly, the sorting options are very inaccessible, you have to tap an element near the bottom of the screen that is TINY and also hard to see. It'd make more sense and be more consistent with other apps if the sorting options were under the ellipsis menu (e.g. in Apple Notes) instead. The "new recipe" function also 100% deserves its own button on the main page instead of being thrown into the navigational pane. Similar to Paprika, Crouton, Umami, a plus sign button in the upper right corner could let me select between scanning, manual add, or adding a recipe from a URL. I could then add recipes immediately, instead of having to once again pull up the frustratingly placed navigational pane. The category/tag function is great, but when viewing a tag, there's no way to: edit/rename the current tag, quickly get back to the all recipes view, or select and view multiple tags. I wish I could filter for recipes that are both "soup" and "vegan" for example, and that there was generally a faster way to select/switch between tags besides tapping in the corner, scrolling, and selecting a different tag. I wish the ellipsis menu in a tag view had tag-specific edit options like rename and delete. There's also no way to rate recipes, batch select/edit multiple recipes (e.g. to add a certain tag), categorize groceries or make multiple grocery lists e.g. for different stores, or add your own notes (separate from the notes of the recipe itself). Lastly, neither the coral pink in light mode nor the dandelion yellow in dark mode with white text are super easy on the eyes, even with the "increase contrast" option on. I write all of this because this is a fantastic app otherwise. It syncs well, feels smooth, has seamless recipe import and a ton of great features. I hope it continues to improve.
