I have been using this app for a long time and they have never disappointed! I was with them when they changed to having to use gems and they were very good about the changes! Plus they have a great diverse range of novels, comics you name it!

I Love love love Love the stories but it’s just So so hard to fully enjoy it with the Gems especially for some people who don’t have the option to be able to buy gems it gets kinda frustrating

I really loved that is affordable they have lots of options available and the quality is great! I still spend on gems here and there but even if you can’t afford to spend in gems the unlimited variety is a great choice

Originally, I had a 1 star experience but now it’s 2 or 3 stars for customer service experience ***first review*** I paid using Apple wallet, and directly on their website. I was allowed to access the subscription for that same night but then it didn’t work the following day- they closed me off. I didn’t even receive record of my credit card transaction on my manta account or any receipt through email. Customer service communication over email was bad.. they were careless and kept saying the same thing and didn’t actually help me in any way. Why are they asking me for a receipt ID if I never received one from them?? WASTED my time to get this resolved. LOST my money. I wonder if anyone else got money taken from them. Where did my money go??? *****Update***** Couple weeks later. It took some time (unnecessarily) but they eventually resolved things and found out money went/ paid under a new Manta account that was created when you pay through Apple. Customer service communications (via. email) got better over time, you just have to really advocate for yourself even though it seems like they can’t do anything at first and were speaking in absolutes. Then the manager responded accordingly and reassured me in their seriousness about resolving this (as I felt they had been careless in their responses and in actually taking in the details I’ve been providing them- I was kind of led a bit in circles) One frustrating issue or example encountered was that my Apple wallet had shown the purchase name as “Sleep Manta”, and the customer service didn’t recognize that name as their own at first, and denied it was them, and to keep check things on my end. Towards the end, however, I felt like we were actually getting somewhere, but it did take a lot of effort and advocating on my end :’0 *Sigh. This whole thing was unnecessarily challenging, and time consuming but I was so relieved when they finally figured things out. I hope customer service can also improve from this experience. After, resolving things, I’ve still not received an email receipt, despite them saying they sent it to both my Apple ID (anonymous) nor the email I was using to communicate with them So, I had to request it once more and I did get it this time. I sort of think that if things were sent or received by me (customer end) from the ~~beginning this would’ve saved a lotta trouble. I even had email forwarding on for Apple, but idk why I didn’t receive anything to ANY of the email addresses. There were too many technical difficulties. Lastly, for all the users out there who read this far into my review— be careful when you’re paying through Apple 😢😢 and… thank you and good job to the manager and customer service for eventually figuring things out. I really like Manta but the thing is is the gems I would love to read so many more books but all the really good ones require gems and I don’t want to constantly buy gems for that I wish there was more romantic comic books that are gem free I do have the subscription but I feel like I’m not getting what I expect to get by paying. If there was more another type of subscription plan that unlocks all comic books that would be awesome instead getting half for four bucks a month.

UPDATE OCT. 2025 The app is just really really boring now! There’s no good books if you’re not paying diamonds for it and the subscription stories drag their stories out over 90-150 WEEKS, you realize it’s not worth it to keep paying every month. This app used to be phenomenal, but now I currently rate it 0.5/10 stars. That’s the only way I can describe Manta now. They are greedy and have become such a hollow shell of what they used to be! I’ve had this app for years now and there is absolutely NO way that I will be buying gems IN ADDITION to already paying a MONTHLY subscription!!! The app was already getting ridiculous when readers HAVE to pay every month ON TIME for their subscription, but authors could take however many weeks, months, and sometimes YEARS to decide when (or even IF) they want to update a story.❗️THIS APP IS NO LONGER SUITABLE FOR THE AUDIENCE EXPERIENCE, IT ONLY SERVES AS A CASH GRAB FOR MANTA AND SUBSCRIBERS ARE PAYING THE PRICE OF THAT❗️The workers and creators of this app have CLEARLY lost their integrity and morals while dealing with the customers and have fallen victim to selling out to get a few extra bucks. Absolutely deplorable and detestable. To watch this app steadily decline from one of the best apps for stories to being a downright laughable joke was not on my 2024 bingo card.

I enjoyed the app until they announced the switch to AI translation for novels and webtoons. I won’t pay for any AI translation and it’s disappointing to see the app treat writers and translators and readers this way. I will be deleting this app going forward unless the AI policy is changed.

I’ve had the app for several years now. I’ve enjoyed a few stories and the art has been beautiful. The pleasure of reading a variety of stories and content has decreased in the past year. Many of the better comics and full version stories are only available in the online version of manta. Now they expect customers to pay a membership fee as well as buy gems to read their comics. It’s a terrible capitalistic system
