Description

Getting glutened from a meal you thought was safe is not a minor inconvenience. It's days or weeks of pain, brain fog, and exhaustion you can't just push through. And yet most gluten-free restaurant apps are built on the honor system — anyone can submit a listing, nobody verifies it, and you're the one who pays for it. That's not good enough. And that's exactly why I built Gluten Dude. I'm Scott...aka Gluten Dude. I've had celiac disease since 2007. I've been advocating for this community for over 15 years — calling out the BS, pushing for better support, and building tools I wish had existed when I was diagnosed. Four years ago, I launched this app because I looked at what was out there and thought: we deserve better than a crowdsourced guess. Every restaurant listing in Gluten Dude is personally researched for cross-contamination practices. Not submitted by a stranger. Not pulled from a generic database. Researched. With real kitchen notes so you know exactly what you're walking into before you go. Over 14,000 people with celiac disease and gluten intolerance trust this app. It's rated 4.8 stars on Apple. And it's the most thorough gluten-free restaurant finder on the market. WHAT MAKES GLUTEN DUDE DIFFERENT Other apps give you a list and call it a day. Some will even tell you upfront that their listings aren't actually recommendations. Read that again. Gluten Dude filters restaurants by safety level — so you're always in control: • 100% Gluten-Free (dedicated gluten-free kitchens, zero cross-contamination risk) • Dude Vetted (personally researched with direct notes from the kitchen on cross-contamination practices) • User Suggested (researched restaurants where the kitchen didn't respond, but the community track record is strong) • Chains (chains the celiac and gluten sensitive community consistently rate highly) Read notes from the kitchen: For Dude Vetted places, you’ll see a “Dude Vetting Note” that tells you what matters: prep practices, shared equipment, and the real-world details you wish every restaurant would explain upfront. TRAVEL TOOLS THAT ACTUALLY WORK • Driving Trip Planner: find gluten-free restaurants along your route, filter by distance and type • Airport Dining: safe options at 100+ airports worldwide, organized by terminal • Destination Planning: research your gluten-free travel options before you leave home SAVE MONEY LIVING GLUTEN-FREE Access exclusive coupons, brand discounts, and online savings across a huge list of gluten-free products. Because living gluten-free is already expensive enough. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING "Your approach is far superior to other apps in terms of safety. Your app is desperately needed." - Sandy "Thank you for being an instrumental part of the celiac community. I trust your app so much more than any other." – Erica "Nothing else I’ve seen has the breadth of up-to-date, peace-of-mind info on where to safely go." – GF Seeker "I feel much more confident & safer using your app vs. any other. How diligent you are is what separates you from the rest." – Laura "I won’t use any other app besides yours - because safety first!" - Kelly "Keep rockin’ Gluten Dude. You are changing the world for us." - Laura "I appreciate all you try to do for all of us in the celiac community. Your ongoing and relentless support is such a gift. Thank you." - Hillary Hope is not a gluten-free strategy. Download Gluten Dude and eat out with actual confidence.

I went ahead and paid for one year, I was shocked that the app does not allow you to filter restaurants that aren’t “open now”. This is such an obvious feature and completely crazy that the app can’t do that. The interface is also clunky, showing names of things after you click a second time on a location (… and possibly discover they are closed AFTER that)

We LOVE using the app. It has been SO helpful when we travel and helps to plan ahead. Being Celiac I especially like to stick to dedicated GF the day before flying so I love the sort by 100% gluten free tab. I am currently planning a road trip and for the first time utilizing the Trip Planner feature and loving it. For those eating gluten free, it’s an app that is a must!

I’ve tried a few other gf apps and the others are poor in user friendliness or full of ads. This app is super user friendly, love the visual appearance of the app, and the most important thing - it does a fantastic job of helping me find gf restaurants! I hope more and more people join this app to continue to build out the gf restaurant map.

This app is run by a fellow celiac who doesn’t take endorsements from corporations or products, like many others, which keeps reviews and information honest. Gluten Dude understands the daily struggles we have and created the app to help others with their #celiaclife. All restaurants listed are contacted and questioned about their gluten free policies and practices and procedures. Restaurants are categorized by their gf status- 100% gf, dude vetted, user suggested. Updates are frequent and new restaurants are often added and users alerted. The app has guides for airports, drinks, connecting with others and saving money. I have other gf apps too but this one is the GOLD STANDARD! A must have for all celiacs. Elissa, celiac chef

Gluten Dude has the Celiac community’s back! I always check his information and know he does the work with vetting the restaurants. With his new feature of mapping out a trip finding safe places to eat is an awesome enhancement! Thanks GD!

Celiacs know the struggle of finding places to eat. This apps reaches out to places to see their celiac /gf protocol and reports back. Makes finding a place a lot quicker to find! I discovered new places I wouldn’t have otherwise known on the other gf app. Worth it. Only feature request is if there was a way to filter restaurants being open or not at a specific time.

Not as many restaurants as the competing app but much better vetting process, which leads to more safety for me to eat out. I also appreciate that you can easily get ahold of Mr Gluten Dude easily if you have a concern. They are very responsive and understand the importance of medically driven gluten free diets.
  • The ONLY app I trust as a celiac

I was diagnosed with celiac in 2017 and even having multiple family members with celiac, it was difficult to safely find places out to eat. FMGF wasn’t a reliable source and knowing that the Gluten Dude team personally vets and contacts each restaurant, it is the ONLY gluten-free app I trust. It has been great for travel and even moreso with the trip/route planning feature. The peace of mind that the detailed reviews give me are priceless and I’d pay for this app a million times over. Btw, I appreciate that there’s a lifetime purchase option especially as everything moves toward subscription models. Overall, I cannot recommend this app enough.

I suppose if you only travel to the very limited areas this one dude travels or like chains, this app is fine. It’s been worthless everywhere I travel. Very limited restaurants; incomplete listings; info on DV (Dude Vetted) establishments lifted from website. The only DV in the area I’m in right now lists some info from the website and thanks another user for letting them know it’s not dedicated GF in 2025. So how was this vetted by the app team? It’s not. They just pulled info from a website with no research. But hey there’s a whole bunch of Five Guys. *eye roll* The app is a waste of money. But you’ll be handing the dev team more money by using their affiliate links and coupons. Save your money and just type Gluten Free in whatever city and get the same information and public reviews.
