This app is really bad. The maps are weak. The connectivity is hit and miss. Painful to use.

The previous version of the ESCORT app worked perfectly, but it seems they are now intentionally blocking certain features that paying subscribers relied on. This new app appears to have an ulterior motive. After some research, I discovered that this app is owned by a company that tracks and reports driver behavior to consumer data brokers. These brokers, in turn, sell this information to insurance companies, potentially affecting your rates.

It only records what it wants to! I stopped at a red light and someone runs a red light in front of me and I go to review the footage and it has no footage of it! It’s got the footage before getting to the red light and the footage after the other vehicles started going when they got the greenlight! What’s the point, if it’s not recording everything?! I’m buying a different dash cam and running this one over with my car.

The developer removed your ability to launch the app from the CarPlay screen. I used to be able to launch the app from the Carplay screen, and it would flawlessly connect via Bluetooth to my Redline 360c v2. Now, you have to launch the app from your phone, which may seem like a minor inconvenience, but when you are driving, it is much more convenient and safe to do it from the CarPlay screen. I even created an iOS automation shortcut to launch the app once connected to CarPlay, but I still receive the same message. I am unaware of any other CarPlay-compatible app that prevents you from launching it from the CarPlay screen. Please return that functionality!

App doesn’t connect very well with my pioneer double din stereo WiFi hotspot and some street speed limits are off. It shows 25 speed limit when actual speed limit is 45. Very difficult to connect to my home WiFi as well
  • Map doesn’t update

I give this app a one star because the map doesn’t update in the background even though it’s supposed to. Therefore, one cannot trust what the detector says the speed limit is.
  • Frustrated. Google and Apple Maps is outperforming

I have been using this app for at least half a year. It doesn’t keep up with what roads are closed or not and at least once a month it takes me to a wrong location or passes my destination by a mile. This app gets used daily by me. It’s so bad it can’t even warn me of traffic on the interstate and find alternatives for routes while driving.
  • It’s a good app

I really think you guys should consider switching to Google for the maps. I cannot tell you how many times Mapbox has displayed the wrong speed limit. And for me, that comes off as problematic for a radar detector product. Other than that it’s a great app.
