  • Can’t set ages

The app is broken so you can’t select ages except middle school. And it says it will send a request for secondary admin account but nothing shows up in email or in the primary app. Very buggy.
  • Poor instructions

Says to download app and follow instructions. Only has a login screen. No sign-up. Chat does not respond. So far, zero stars if I could.
  • Really bad app

This app is the worst app that I have ever used. It is extremely slow and it times out constantly on top of that as much as I love the parental controls on the Griffin guardian it is constantly rebooting. I don’t know if the app is causing it. I don’t know if the device is causing it, but it is so slow and there are so many rebootif this company would get their act together and improve the functionality of the app itself and the glitches it would be one of the best routers I have ever encountered.
  • Doesn’t save changes very well

The app keeps lagging and says I should try again later, but it says that every time I try to change anything about the devices or the profiles. It’s been like that for over 1 month now and I have no problems with any other app..

I know that Gryphon has had some negative reviews on account of the app being buggy, which it is, let’s be honest. But here’s why you should get the Gryphon. 1) great support 2) protect your family 3) it’s the best choice for router-level protection. I just finished getting help from JP, a tech support representative who helped me solve the bug THAT NIGHT. Gryphon has always provided help, and I’ve had it for years. I know solving bugs and issues is a challenge, but this is our family we are talking about here. With Gryphon we have router-level protection on every device that uses our wi-fi. It’s not the same as Circle or Bark, which are very nice, but not routers. Please keep up the good fight for your family and go with Gryphon!
  • Logout problem is back, basic features now cost extra

Edit 5/26/25 the basic features of the router that we already paid for is now a subscription model costing $5/mo or $50/yr. This device worked ok at the beginning but more breaches of contract. I cannot recommend this router anymore. The app works but when one user is logged in and another user logs in it logs the first user out without warning. They had this problem a while back then fixed it but the bug is back. It is important to have both parents’ devices logged in to the app at the same time PLEASE fix this again (edit, this has been years with no fix)
  • Not As Expected

At first this was viewed as a true delight. Control of my security on MY device without having to go through unsecured internet to reach security settings. But I can't use my own VPN & Ports are opened or closed by Gryphon granting permission. Homebound (parental control app) was used by hacker. I am no longer delighted.

I have been having trouble with the app since I upgraded to the iPhone 16. I can’t see my network status at all. App worked great on my old phone but is completely unusable now.
  • Keeps getting worse

I’ve had the Gryphon Guardian mesh router for several years. It used to work OK, but now it doesn’t accurately reflect the online status of the repeaters, both when initially reinstalling them into the network or after they are part of the network. It used to be possible to see the strength of the Wi-Fi signal they were emitting, but now that information is unavailable it seems. The app also does not show all the devices which are connected to the network. For reference, I use an iPhone and a MacBook Pro.
  • Awful!

Don’t waste your time or your money. The app is a headache all in its self. It’s delayed with tons of bugs. And I have random unknown devices popping up. I find it kind of funny that you have to subscribe to have any safety features for malware . Are these unknown devices popping up actually them trying to scare me into buying their subscription?
