  • The iPad app is just “OK”…

I got this app to test out the software and determine if I wanted to buy a Skylight. Well, the app doesn’t show a weekly format as advertised in the Skylight ads, it has the days listed on the left, rather than the top. So it’s more of a “list” format, and no smooth visual of what I have going on for the day and what I have coming up for the week. The regular iPad calendar has better visuals and capabilities, in my opinion. Also, the widget that is available for Skylight is far too small. I’d love for them to offer the max size option, as the iCal does. So there is another check for iCal vs. Skylight. Another issue I had is that I updated something in my iCal calendar (which I thought should automatically sync with the Skylight), but I had to actually hard-close the app and open it back up for it to sync to my iCal. Finally, it would be very helpful if you could do a split screen so I could see the calendar and the chores screen side-by-side (with flexibility to choose whatever 2 screens the user would like to see). If I keep the calendar always visible, then the chores will get overlooked. Overall, this app leaves a lot to be desired, and I’m glad I didn’t waste my money investing in the actual Skylight Calendar device, considering the app does not appear to fulfill all my needs.
  • Very glitchy suddenly

For the past few weeks the app has been very glitchy. Blank spots on the weekly calendar and wrong dates scattered throughout. Usually fixes it when I refresh but not always. Used to be a great app, now not so much.

I love the app. I have all our Apple calendars synced to it, instead of having to keep writing on calendar, it’s nice to have it all in one view. My only request. Please make the lists, so you can move the items around. I love that my family can add to the list, but my OCD needs to reorganize the list, so all the dairy is together, meats, etc. Makes it more efficient when you’re at the store, checking things off. 😁

Overall great but if you’ve ever been to the supermarket you know it can sometimes be difficult to get reception inside, app is completely useless without internet access. I literally screenshot my grocery list so I can see what I need to buy
  • The app simply doesn’t work.

For reference, I have the calendar and pay for plus plan. I cannot get anything in the app to work consistently and more often than not, it just simply doesn’t work. If I try and add more than 50 photos the app freezes and crashes and doesn’t end up uploading the photos about 60% of the time. If you try and add 100+ photos at a time, the app will get stuck in a loading animation and won’t ever move past this screen until you force close the app, causing you to lose of all of the photos you selected and waste tons of time. This has happened every single time I’ve tried to put 100+ photos on my calendar at once. The app has various visual glitches and everything just seems half baked. I constantly encounter some sort of glitch that negatively affects the usability of the app in some way, in every single part of the app. Super disappointing, especially since you have to pay to use many of these features.

I love this product because it really helps me manage everything for my family. However, a recent issue I’ve noticed is that when I’m looking at the menu on my app, some days won’t show up and will just be blank. If I change weeks and then go back it will fix it some of the time but others it won’t. It’s frustrating to not always be able to manage it from the app.

My husband bought the Skylight Calendar for me as a Christmas gift. I was so happy to be able to easily import my Google calendar right into the skylight app. Unfortunately, it doesn’t transfer the color coordinated events in their colors, so you have to manually go in and change every single one, which took a large amount of time. There is no way to set tasks, reminders, or event alerts in the calendar which is pretty disappointing. I also wish you were able to just duplicate events that are repetitive but not in a set schedule so you can’t use the repeat option. The Skylight Calendar has the potential to be a great app but right now I’m pretty disappointed. It would be nice and time saving if the app opened right up to the calendar, but it doesn’t if you’re linked to other skylight accounts. Inside the calendar, I wish the default was the month view and that you could easily scroll between months instead of clicking the arrow. Feeling like we wasted so much money on this calendar as I prefer to stick with the Google Calendar app for its functionality.
