  • Have Several Cams - Don’t Currently Recommend

    Until Eufy figures out what is going on with all these updates which have basically rendered the cameras unusable, do not recommend anyone purchase. Progressively worse and worse over last few months to the point that always times out attempting to read data / load cameras. I have several cameras at 2 different locations / WiFi and they all are acting the same. Sometimes it’s better if you turn wifi on your phone off and they will load, so it’s something Eufy has done with all these recent updates that render these cameras useless.

  • All over the place

    Most of the time this app is fine. But sometimes after an update it goes crazy. For example, I formatted my card yesterday, so zero videos on the it. Today the icon shows there are 103 new events - there are less than 30. Dumb dumb dumb. says

  • Motion Detection Area No Longer Working

    As of the last update, i keep getting ghost notifications whenever something moves outside of the detection boundaries that were set for the camera. Pretty annoying to get notifications everytime a car drives by outside my driveway even though i set the boundary 10 ft up my driveway away from the road.

    Overall a nice app, especially for free. Camera I really like. A major flaw for me is that when you click on an event notification, the app takes you to the live camera feed, and NOT the event you were notified about. Takes about 3 annoying clicks to get the event you were interested in seeing. Don’t know why they would program it this way. During setup I had a really hard time syncing the camera with the paid cloud storage plan. My eufy account email is different than my AppleID email and this caused issues. Support told me to simply redownload the app, but this comes with the major inconvenience of having to pair the camera again. It wasn’t seamless, and their solution didn’t immediately fix anything . Eventually it finally started to work, even though I can’t tell you why. Chatted with customer support, and they told me “continuous recording” was possible with cloud storage and no microSD is talked. It definitely is not. So that was a blatant lie from their support team. Camera itself is good and the app has tons of features. Just a needs a little bit of refining. And a star docked for customer support false claims.

    The features are wildly buggy. It often loses wifi connection, and I have to remap. Then it will lose the existing map when I try to add another, with multi-map saving on. It shows unread messages after all have been read and deleted. Instead of focusing on a workable app for the product I already own, this is just a vehicle for advertisements for product I will never purchase.

    Eufy hardware seems capable, well-made, and reasonably priced. However, the product line fails to completely satisfy because the software is not completely useful. There is AI face recognition, which is a nod to the hype around AI, but they don’t seem to understand the use cases that a homeowner would value. I have a choice of getting notifications and recording about everything, or nothing. What I want is to not be informed when somebody walks by on the sidewalk, but I do want to be informed when somebody comes to the door. If I don’t have the “bother me about everything” mode enabled, I won’t even get an event, much less an image capture or recording, if somebody rings the doorbell. Just today the Eufy doorbell was rung; I could see that it was two men, but I was unable to answer the door. Later I had no record of that event. If a package is left on my front steps, Eufy won’t tell me about it unless I have the “bother me about everything” mode enabled. The visual scene for somebody walking by on the sidewalk is very different from the visual scene of somebody approaching my door. I would think that AI would be capable of classifying these events pretty well. I assume Eufy is a company of technologists, and not user experience people.

  • Bad for viewing events

    Video playback is not integrated with Events so if you want to see what happened before or after an event, you have to back out of Events and go to Playback. Playback also loads very slowly.

  • Difficult App

    I just got my first Eufy (e30 cam) and want to turn off the siren when it detects something. I had to go into the chat to find out how to do it, but the instructions were wrong. I finally figured out where to go but when I tried to change to light only (it would be nice to have no light AND no siren), the app wouldn’t switch. No error msg, it just wouldn’t switch. Also, the app frequently doesn’t return to the previous page when I press the < icon. Maddening! I’ll have to return the unit if I can’t get this right. This is for the nursery. Generally speaking, the app should enable you to go to fewer menus to do everything.
