Do the lessons along with independent written/vocab learning (which the app also has) and you *will* get the results. This is the best program for practicing listening comprehension and pronunciation PERIOD and they have an excellent selection of languages. In 2013 I began learning my third language on Pimsleur, and am fully fluent today. Because of Pimsleur, I was confident to start a fourth this year! Don’t be afraid, give it a try, and you’ll be glad you did. If you’re not sure you can handle it, some lessons are sampled on YouTube for you to see for yourself.

I only use this app and LingQ. The only two apps you need to learn a language
  • Beware the free trials

Be hesitant to consider the free trials that they offer. I received a free trial after my subscription had ended to keep me a little longer. I accepted it and while I was traveling it lapsed. They have a zero tolerance policy and won’t work with the customer at all if you go against any of their policies, so they locked me into another one year of subscription. Pretty unfortunate that they have such a lack of flexibility. That being said, the app is actually pretty good for what it is if you have the time to use it. Would be better if they had a usable flash card interface.

Please consider showing the words that are being taught. The current way works for me for Spanish only because I am a little familiar with it already. When I try any other language I cannot get past the first sentence because I have no absolutely no clue how to pronounce the words just by listening. This is especially true for a language like Vietnamese.
  • It works. It’s the most helpful language app

Though the scenarios get boring over time. Overall it’s very effective and produces visible results.
