idk if this is something I can fix but so far it’s been such a great app I’ve been learning Nepali but after I finished the introduction it won’t let me learn any thing else unless I pay for pro

Good all but needs ilocano language too. Add that and I’ll change to 5 stars

Ling is what Duolingo could’ve been if they stayed focused on languages instead of trying to do music and math. Ling includes many globally important languages that Duolingo ignores and is a good alternative for anyone wanting to learn a lesser-taught language. A good app for the traveler and linguist.
  • Easy to learn and very interactive

The app allows you to study languages and learn at your own pace. A really cool feature is that if you don’t know how to pronounce the words you can go over them various times, there are even small conversations as examples so you can use some of the words you learn in sentences. Overall learning on Ling is turning out to be a joy
  • Bad app, overreacting devs

As a beginner trying to learn a language, it is very hard to find good resources and separate them from the bad. I tried this app but I was mad that like many other apps, it markets itself as being free, but then forced you to subscribe to move on. I came back on the App Store to see if other people shared this anger, and they did. I found a review where it was very angry about this, didn’t cuss at all, and then said that the company might be Jewish because of the incompetence. Then the company replied calling it a review where there was inappropriate and discriminative language. If you respond and DARE to call this inappropriate, then it just proves my point. On other reviews you just dodge the problem and say that you hope for a good app. Marketing yourself as the „easy way to learn languages“ doesn’t make you expect that the easy way makes you pay. Language Learning should be free, but with optional subscriptions if they do an outstanding job of teaching a language like Duolingo. Please try a different app. Ling, make the app free and improve it.
  • Amazing but expensive

I finally found a good app to learn Tagalog, and though the introduction part was free, nothing else was. The lessons are great, but it’s just so expensive like $80?
  • I will cancel that just writing a review. It’s a brief not a review.

This app charged my card after I cancelled before the free trial was up. This has made me have to get a new card and go change all my subscriptions plus my bills. Absolutely ridiculous.
  • Not really for beginners

I downloaded this to augment the my language studies; I use two additional apps as well as books and audio. Positives - I like that pronunciations appear to be from human native speakers. It is helpful to see key vocab before you see it in sentences. It is also great that it teaches languages that other apps do not. Negatives - you are introduced to like 4 new words (for example words for random numbers) but then every activity requires you to read a far larger amount of new vocabulary and apply intermediate/advanced knowledge of grammar (for example preposition placement and syntax) to complete activities. You are able to correct mistakes but there is no instruction on these additional expectations. I’m not sure if this is by design to simulate the immersion experience but this does not (and probably cannot) simulate true immersion except for the feeling of being in way over your head without a sense of if and when or how you will learn what you need to. (For context, I am a language teacher) Also as I mentioned above, I am learning this language in two other apps, which have given me a leg up with a lot of the syntax, grammar and vocabulary that this app seems to assume learners know already. So, if this is your only app for learning a language, anticipate it will be frustrating.
