  • Oof - latest update not connecting…

The previous version had been working just fine for me personal, home network usage. The app told me it had an update this evening so I thought “what could go wrong” :) Unfortunately it just gives me a never-ending Connecting… pop up screen now.
  • Drops my Connection over and over

This app used to work flawlessly. I am connecting to a brnad new work PC from an iMac at home. Now it drops the connection over and over, asking me to verify. It did this 7 times in a row today. I'm still not connected. Very frustrating for we who work from home. Update as of 3-31-26. It still drops constantly. “Do you want to connect?” “Do you want to connect?” Do you want to connect” “Do you want to connect?” over and over and over and over. I can’t get any work done. I wish there were another app to use instead.

  • Long time bug is super annoying

There is a long time (multi-year) bug that causes a copy from the Virtual Machine and a paste to MacOS to lock up the system and fail after about 30 seconds. The issue is intermittent, but has been happening through multiple versions, multiple MacOS versions, and multiple Mac hardware. This makes it annoying to use when all you are trying to do is copy/paste data out.
  • It works, but…… (Updated)

Update: MS engaged me and put a team on this issue. They are still working through the issues but at this point the performance is enormously better and acceptable- and it feels like they are absolutely committed to getting proper performance. I find it interesting that this was the avenue to get attention to the issue rather than their troubleshooting channel but either way I am satisfied with the progress. End of update. *** It seems to be a back burner work in progress. The old RDP was better by far. MS seems to be working to work the bugs out, but it is not a priority for them. The latest problem is functionality with old server platforms, in my case server 2012. I keep sending feedback to MS and they eventually get around to it. They need to realize that industrial control systems do not get upgraded at the same pace as the rest of the world. Reality. To be fair, it seems to work fine with Windows 10 and later.

Only suggestion I have would be to hide the main window when switch into remote mode by default instead of having to manually close the main screen every time which leaves two windows open if you don’t. Thanks!

Microsoft has added some nice features but they have made it worse in some ways too. 1 - “Windows App” is a dumb name. I don’t see how this name benefits anyone, and it must make supporting this app much worse for MS. They must get countless tickets that are for other apps because of the insistence of using such a generic name. 2 - No true list view like there used to be. I don’t want icons. Microsoft made the UI worse with this design. Read the MS forums. There are a lot of complaints about this but they refuse to fix it. 3 - The search field should be at the top of the window, not in the pop out column on the left. If I want to do a search, it should be able to retain my desired app layout. 4 - It’s not fully ADA / Accessibility compliant. I can open the app with my keyboard, do a search, but there is no way to tab over to the desired saved device. This was reported over a year ago and is still a problem.
  • Extra steps to launch

There no longer seems to be a way to save RDP files or any kind of auto-launch setting for fast access.
  • Keyboard Mapping

Would love if this provided a more comprehensive mapping of keyboard mapping shortcuts, things like control -> left arrow, control spacebar, windows key. Currently it is difficult to figure out what Mac keys will map to specific Windows equivalents. Even using an external (windows) keyboard not all the functions translate similarly.
