    I have been using many audio transcription tools for last 4 years - paid and unpaid. I would say Otter is the most easy to use and versatile. With true AI enablement you have all the power of genies for any meetings. Cool part is it remember the voices and once you tag all your meeting’s automatically gets updated and for future meetings it picks up as well. The live transcription is the best way to use it (either directly or thru meeting apps). Now you can accesss it he old contents while it’s transcribing a live meetings- I typically use 2 phones/desktop to constantly dig into the old meetings for curated or contextual questions for a meeting series. It saved all your query for each meetings which is a great reference point for a weekly/monthly summary. Highlights are also a grt tool. They may improve the edit mode to accept sounds like keywords be replace globally as due to various reason transcription is not always 100% correct hence the training model is necessary for the domain of the meetings. Also 90 min+ meetings are pain - you have cognizant to stop and start a new meeting other it won’t show you the remaining content.

    I am blown away. The transcription was great, but I was not anticipating, which are truly phenomenal, are the summaries, outlines, action items, and prompts for further inquiry. If this were around when I was in grad school, I’d never have gone to class! Haha

    For some reason, the transcription was delayed however, when I came back, I was able to retrieve all of the notes updating my review .

  • Decent but not accurate

    Wanted to like it but after my first recording I had to upgrade to a pro membership. My meeting was over an hour so it then said you need an another upgrade for a commercial version but couldn’t buy it from the app. Strange model

  • Transcript is not perfect

    I wish I knew how to edit the transcript as it is not perfect but the recording quality is very good.

    Can’t believe this app STILL DOESN’T just save recordings by default! Ugh! Have lost multiple thirty minute recordings. You “stop” the recording and it disappears completely. You try to put it in a folder or save it and it doesn’t work at all. This app is a nightmare and i have lost important recordings and had to redo them elsewhere! Don’t use this as a recording app or you’ll regret it!!!

    Be sure to set the language before starting the conversation. It'll try to transcribe in the wrong language if you don't. It's definitely frustrating to lose an hour of notes because it's the wrong language

  • Unhappy years long customer

    So I have been with otter ai for at least 5-6 years. I really loved what the product used to be. First things were free, then they charged $50 per year. Then they charged $100 per year. Then recently they charged over $100 with around 50% less minutes for use each month. So now, I run out of minutes about 1-2 weeks at the beginning of each month. Which is sad, since I knew and used the product for so long and it was great. Now, it is too costly for what it is. You can’t get any live customer support. Always emails back and forth that takes weeks and never really answered my questions or fixed my issues. The reliability of the transcripts aren’t all that great for paying $100+ dollars per year. I could never get it trained enough per conversation to know which person was speaking and to label it throughout the record. So it involves a lot of heavy and time consuming editing from me. I only think this product is worth $100 per year if they bring back more monthly minutes. What they have now is a waste and I can just use my phone/tablet voice memo app, which is free and unlimited. We used to recommend this transcription service to our deaf and hard of hearing community members. But no longer since it is cost prohibitive with lack of monthly minutes. Otter- back a decent amount of monthly minutes at a reasonable cost!
