  • Bloated, Distracting, Datamining

    Use Udemy. This is not educational. Its inspirational career-based Netflix. There is very little learning to be had. You're essential paying $120 or more for documentaries that are structured in a lesson format. Even IF this was educational its the bloated user experience that makes it the worst. Lets turn off all of these stupid suggestions and constant pestering pop-ups that happen while trying to use the service? Not possible. There are no options in the settings to turn any of this off yet it is constantly popping up. How is this helpful in an educational setting? Let me sit you down in a classroom to listen to a professor and then while you're doing that let me talk in your ear, asking you about different polls, what your interests are, where do you think you want to take your career in the next five years and maybe you should gift MasterClass to one of your relatives... How is this in any way shape or form helpful to the educational experience? Not to mention the fact that you constantly ask questions about customizing the experience or catering to me and my needs but then after filling out forms or checking boxes the experience is in no way customized it still uses the same suggestions and tactics that it does for someone else. This just further proves that it is used for data collection and not for the user experience. For being an educational service I find it very odd that it has a ton of very distracting elements constantly pushing things and constantly trying to collect more data from me. Is this seriously how MasterClass runs its business now? This website and app has become so bloated, distracting and frustrating to use that it's a shock that it is still considered the leading name. Maybe instead of trying to appease investors, mining users for data and getting more funding you should actually focus on what your business is.... Or perhaps MasterClass doesn't even know what that is anymore.

    App never remembers what programs you have viewed or where you are at in certain classes search bar doesn’t work. You have to look up classes by trying to figure out what classification they’re in one of the worst apps I’ve ever seen in my entire life disappointing and embarrassing and not worth the money. Customer Service is basically non-existent. The customer service reps can’t decipher emails and give you specific help topics they try to tell you to reinstall app or that the app works on all devices ignorant of what your problems are and how to fix them if you’re looking for a headache, this is the one for you.
  • Renewal policy is a scam

    Highly recommend not giving this service as a gift. They require a credit card at signup and will automatically renew membership in a year. They refuse to give a refund for the renewal even if you have not used the service.

    I’m not sure if it’s me but I have had soooo much trouble with this app! It stops mid show, goes an around and around or says something went wrong. Then the app freezes. I paid around a $ 100 dollars back in Nov/ Dec for a “Black Friday” for the year and this is the most redicpus and frustrating app/ program I have ever dealt with. Absolute ridiculous and the most frustrating thing I’ve dealt wish I never paid for it so disappointing.!
  • Amazing content, but the app needs to be updated

    I enjoy the content of the app. you can learn so much. The content is a 5/5 star rate. Unfortunately whenever I try to use the app my phone over heats. It’s is the only app this happens with, it drains my battery really fast. The background option needs to be fix, the audio plays double with a few seconds of delay and only gets fixed after closing the app completely.

    Buffers for 5 minutes then plays 5 seconds and then buffers again for another five minutes and then plays for five seconds again… repeats over and over so I guess I’m doomed to my devices (phone, tablet and probably laptop)

    There is no way to easily cancel membership. They will continue to charge your credit card after the first year.
  • Insidious long term model

    No interest in another year of this service. Didn’t realize there was an annual renewal, and didn’t realize that while there’s a thirty day satisfaction guarantee, it cannot apply to renewal charges. I cannot afford a year of this product right now in my life, but every subscription seems to come with a thousand secret rituals necessary to not incur further charges. Good luck with customer service as well.
