  • Good but could be better

The news is amazing and the ease to get to all of their articles is great. The speed and responsiveness of the app needs to be worked on though. The app routinely crashes and takes several moments or clicks to respond to a “button” I had just clicked.
  • The magazine is wonderful. The app is terrible

Very slow to load, as the ads jam everything up each time you move to the next article. Often crashes. I really wish they would fix it. Sort of the app version of a British sports car from the 60s, with Lucas electrics, SU carbs, and 1930s suspension.
  • Charged but locked out

Economist will happily use Apple subscription system to charge you but not allow you to log in. No way to resolve.
  • Censoring

Flipboard is decent enough but is a hotbed for Russian trolls just like on many other social media platforms. They also censor comments from actual Americans by stating they can’t reply, while allowing trolls to comment.
  • Excellent journalism, terrible app

App is unresponsive, freezes in the middle of screen transitions and crashes frequently. Really hope to see some improvements soon. Displaying mostly static content shouldn't be this slow
  • Broken

This app has stopped working in it’s latest implementation. Slow, crashes all the time, weird ad page overlaps, won’t remember where you were. The magazine is the best in the world. This app is not worthy of it.
  • Please fix

When I come back to the app after like 10 minutes it all reloads and I have to go through the trouble of finding the article I was reading. Please please make it so when I come back to the app I am on the same article as I was before
  • Poor App Performance

I used to love reading the Economist on my iPad, but in the last few months, the app has started to perform terribly. Specifically, the touches are inconsistent and articles are impossible to read when switching from portrait to landscape view. The issues persist even after uninstalling the app, clearing the cache, restarting my iPad, reinstalling the app, and logging back in. If the app could handle basic functionality like consistent link touches, consistent scrolling, and being able to switch from portrait to landscape view without the entire article reloading or exiting out of the article entirely, my review would be five stars.
  • Do not purchase Subscription through Apple

I recently purchased a one-year subscription for $299 through Apple. However, when I logged into the website, it showed that I didn't have an active subscription. I tried deleting the app and restoring the purchase, but I still couldn't access the website. When I contacted The Economist's customer support, they informed me that they couldn't assist because they have no visibility into purchases made through Apple. They suggested I purchase a subscription directly from their website instead. This experience has been incredibly frustrating. It's disappointing that a company would treat its paying customers this way. This is not how business should be conducted.
  • The app is so slow that is almost unusable

I’m on an iphone 15. It’s hard to understand how such a prestigious news outlet has such a awful/slow app :(
