  • Scan function doesn’t work

I take screenshots of the pages and this morning speechify decided that the page order should be jumbled. The chapter truly makes more sense when it jumps from page 137 to page 122 (the first page of the chapter). I have been doing this for some time without any problems, so speechify must have changed something. Please fix it.

    Great app!
  • Not polished enough for $139

I use Speechify almost every day. It has a lot of potential and does many things well. However, it is way too buggy to justify the $139 yearly fee. Even $70 is too much. If they end up fixing some of the worst bugs, it could become worth it.
  • Glitches, inaccurate narrations, annoying prompts!

Not worth the money to get this. The voices read entirely inaccurate to what is written, especially novels.
  • Great reader

I am very happy that since my posting about a few issues (pause/play; text highlight), most have been resolved! So thanks dev team :) iPad seems to still have issues with highlighting text A few things I’m still looking out for are the reader’s capability to consistently read PDFs in a way that flows naturally and doesn’t split words into letters or misread them.
  • It’s stupid how often I have to exit to reset

4/4/26 ETA: There should not be AI widgets in my when I’m reading. It is absolutely constantly in the way in iOS. And on that point, even with the setting set correctly, the page number and audio controls and ai widget do not auto hide. I have to scroll way up or way down to trigger the box to make it snap back to my current line of reading and then MAYBE those items will auto hide. Auto hide should absolutely time out once the reading has taken place for a certain number of seconds. The text is not always centered top to bottom during auto scroll. As a matter of fact, it is in a different location every time. The app skips words in different ways. Font that appears a little smaller than 12 point, or words in a different color, are skipped. Sections like this cause the app to read text in a bizarre order jumping up and down and up to different seemingly random segments of text. 4/4/26 Another semester, another headache. I uploaded my text to speechify in a word doc. Without a bunch of explicatives, I am livid with how often I have to stop to read aloud to myself. I am livid with how I have to exit the app and reopen every section (every couple minutes) to reset it. Then when I open it, magically it can read every section of every sentence. If I am on an Apple product that is still receiving updates (SE 2924 new when purchased) I deserve to have apps that actually work. It disgusts me. I depend on this software. Unfortunately this one runs better than anything else I can find without going to open source or whatever. And can run across different platforms and browsers. But Jesus Christ it is so broken. I’ve been paying and using some 2023. You’ve forced my hand. Maybe when I graduate from college 2.0 I’ll quit paying for this. It’s crazy how the awards roll in and the accolades because gasp an app dares to address diagnoses other than adhd. Oh wow, so inclusive. Except you manage to update and break it weekly. For all the hours I’ve “saved” reading this way, it actually balances out due to have to find work-arounds, trying failed uploads again and again, trying on the other device’s app and it not syncing or not working or working for a couple pages like it didn’t finish loading. I mean, it’s just such a disservice to us with said special needs who depend on software like this.

I did not fully understand what this app did and did not do. I bought it for a purpose that it couldn’t perform. When I fully realized that it wasn’t working for me, I emailed the company and they quickly responded to my disappointment. I am no longer using speechify because I had to scan the books. I was reading into the app in order for it to read it to me. That was way too laborious. However, when I communicated to them my disappointment, they graciously responded and refunded a prorated amount of my subscription. I was impressed that this company had high integrity.

The voice changes with longer readings and for some random words which is frustrating when paying this much. I bought it also bc it can be used with the family plan on Apple but that doesn’t seem to be working. Also I bought this to listen to school readings on my way to work and I would love a CarPlay app to make that easier. Overall very good but somethings can be fixed especially for the price

I used to be able to scan multiple pages using my phone, but now I’m not able to do that unless I use a scanner to create a PDF. Please bring back the previous functionality.
