  • Clunky with diminishing content

App runs slower nowadays which is annoying but would be tolerable if original idea content hadn’t been reduced. As predicted, NYT reduced local coverage for everything except NFL and largest markets. My favorite baseball team hockey team and college team have zero or extremely limited part time dedicated reporters and therefore zero relevant local content. Destroyed what made The Athletic successful in beginning thereby showing a lack of understanding of what sports fans want. Clickbaity formulaic and shallow articles about local teams can be found on many garbage supposed “news” sites. The Athletic was different. Too bad

It used to be a worth the money, now the morning after one of the best international hockey games of all time (USA vs Canada), they don’t even have a recap article.

Today’s article regarding a shooting at the Eagles parade was misleading if not completely inaccurate. And it’s not sports related even if the incident took place on the parade route which it did not. I will try to cancel my subscription. The quality of the content and writing is too poor to spend money on.

Too many trolls and sub 40 intellects who fail to add any value to what pretends to a sports app.

Gives huge updates on the latest sports reports and helps a lot when you don’t know what’s going on in any league
  • Constant NFL Garbage

I do not follow the NFL. And yet, every story but one on my FYP is about the NFL right now. I miss when this app curated content based on interests. I'm glad i stopped having to pay an athletic specific subscription when they got bought out by the Times, cause this app isn't worth a dollar a year at this point
