  • Crappy app

Never recognizes my subscription. Links don’t take you to the article you were reading, requiring a searc for it.
  • Can’t read stories unless the intrusive ads load

Ads have been on the Athletic for at least a year now but they still don’t load properly every time. If they don’t then the rest of the written article which I pay for won’t load. I find myself unable to read stories way too often because an ad for cologne does not load properly. If I didn’t pay I’d get it but the technical aspects of the app are lacking and it’s painful when it’s because of ads.
  • Text doesn’t fit on iPhone screen.

We pay truly good money for superior sports sports reporting. Too bad this NYTimes client app is not as readable on my iPhone Pro Max as is the Times itself. Firing up this app only to have every line’s last few characters fall off the edge of the screen is a line by line annoyance. There is no fix in the app. The other option is to try make text in all other apps too small by going to a system wide negative adjustment. Either way, “The Athletic” presents itself as a badly formatted PITA.
  • Too many crashes

The application crashes too often in normal use. Hardly a day goes by without at least 1 crash, usually when selecting a different sport, league or team.

JR is the best. Look forward to his daily reports. Katie Woo has really improved also. Would like to see more articles from her.
  • Disappointing

My de facto sports app; however, the experience has been marred recently by click bait headlines, empty reporting, and copious ads. There are still incredible bright spots of excellent reporting and features; however, it’s not the same Athletic I came to know and love.

I get the email click on Read Story. Where is the story. It should be the first thing I see. I have to search for it sometimes I give up. I can’t stand this website
