  • Theres A Critical Flaw

Personally, I find it remarkably short-sighted on the part of the marketing and development teams to take such a low-resolution risk. I always appreciate a preliminary trial period—it’s a necessary means of developing initial rapport with an app. However, the experience within that trial is everything. While the content itself is lovely and the interface reasonably well-organized, the experience is undermined by what feels like an overly aggressive sales tactic. Each time the app is reopened, users are met with a full-page subscription prompt—effectively shouting “BUY, BUY, BUY” in their faces. It’s not only excessive; it’s uncomfortable. Literally every time you close or switch between apps, you’re forced to navigate through this. I have no objection to a business earning revenue, but how you go about it reveals what truly motivates you. If user experience is so readily disrupted by profit-driven interruptions, then user wellbeing clearly isn’t the priority. The focus, quite plainly, is on maximizing subscriptions. If that weren’t the case, this constant paywall push wouldn’t exist—or at least would be more thoughtfully implemented. And that isn’t actually the issue; profit is critical, obviously. But this is a poor strategy, considering how simple of a mistake it is. I promise—regardless of what statistics you’re using—this is a low-resolution mistake aimed at short-term gain, not long-term success. And that leads me to the core concern: if I can’t trust the intent behind your methods, how can I trust the integrity of your content? I’ve enjoyed the music, and I think there’s real potential within the model itself—the app has even complemented my workflow—but it’s difficult to fully invest in something that treats trust as secondary to conversion rates, and does so so casually and carelessly. You could have at least hidden the intent to some degree—or at all. You could do better—and frankly, you should want to.

Not even worth downloading. Now I’ve got to go download another stupid scam app if I want to get a half decent sleep

My focus has definitely improved while using the app. I have also used it to help with meditation and relaxation. Your mileage may vary, but it is definitely worth trying out. My only complaint is that web app isn’t working behind my company VPN, so I have to use my phone.

It should be illegal to have a free app on the App Store that you download and it immediately wants $70 with some predatory free trial. Garbage, you can find what these people are selling as a subscription free online just about anywhere.
  • Better Organization

I love this app and in all reality it’s a 5 star app but something I’ve been wanting to see for a while now is better origination for saved sounds, for example I’ll save a sound for focusing but when I go to my favorites they are all mixed together and the subtle badge stating it’s meant for ‘x’ activity isn’t enough because for example if I save something under recharge but the sound is also categorized as a ‘chill’ sound, then when I go looking for it, it says ‘Chill’ which becomes a problem when I save multiple sounds, it’s a small but very helpful feature that would be useful, otherwise all good

Brain FM is data driven with numerous samples showing their product is effective. I’ve been using it for around 2 months and I’ve seen a change in my ability to focus and study. I would highly recommend.
  • Best focus music there is

This app has been a lifesaver, especially at chaotic times when stress and sleep deprivation make focusing so difficult for me. The ‘Low Neural Effect’ style of deep focus songs also give me an incredibly calm, peaceful sense of deep focus. I get so much done, and I can more easily power through tasks I dislike doing so I don’t procrastinate as much. I’ve tried to create my own focus playlists on other platforms and none get me into a flow state so well as Brain.fm. Much respect to the artists who make the songs! The only improvement that’s needed is on the Pomodoro setting. The scheduled break times should automatically change the music to a lighter style to signal to my brain that it’s time to rest. Currently, it’s just a timer but the same focus song plays continuously. If this were fixed, I’d give it 5 stars.
  • STUDYING FOR HOURS!

I have a terrible case of ADHD and the special kind that also comes with extreme procrastination. I’m currently learning Korean and having to study for my property and casualty license. I tried this out for the first time yesterday and I studied for 8 hours…and today…I studied for 5. I usually have to force myself to sit down and I’ll think about studying. BUT,with this app,I turn it on and I’m hyper focused. It keeps my mind from wandering and it has helped me get so much studying done. I also used it to meditate last night and sleep…AMAZING meditation and I slept SO GOOD. This is such a life changing app. Thank you guys for making this!
