  • Money drain. Poor support

    I think that the developers ruined the game when they introduced Keep levels 41 through 45. Now you cannot really compete in PVP battles without spending money. It has become the haves and the have-nots. In addition their customer support is worthless. They always ask for screenshots…even when you provide them. They pressure you to close a ticket every day, and seem uninterested in policing game violations.

    I enjoy the game a lot, it’s one of the better designed empire building games but I have a few major criticisms of the game: 1. It’s pay to win. While the game allows you to avoid player vs player demolition without paying for extra resources, you’ll never get ahead without doing so. 2. The company is absolutely shameless about their promotional deals! In just 15 minutes in the game, you’ll be pitched to buy several hundred dollars worth of in-game items. Usually the best value package is only $5 but can’t be purchased until you reach a high level of daily activity sucking you in to play even longer! 3. False advertising games! Of all the Evony advertisements I have seen, only one has described the game with any degree of accuracy. That was just a couple of people sitting around a table boasting about their power level in the game. Most Evony adds use fake game play used by dozens of other games. Luckily, the game in recent weeks has increased quest rewards making it possible but slow to play for free without having your troops regularly killed and your resources stolen by other players.

    The content in their game does not match the advertising. The developer will probably respond to this with a lie and say that I should explore the game more. But it’s not true. I have been playing for a year and a half. The game is endlessly complex and interesting. It gives a disproportionate advantage to people who coin. If you are strategic and obsessive like I am, you can find a way to be competitive, but never dominate. People spend thousands of dollars for a chance to win an imaginary city that will give you a tiny percent advantage. It’s very difficult to compete with that. But it’s fun if you get a good community

    It’s laughable that any update says “bug fixes and improvements”. Each update should say “new buggy features added that degrade performance”. The game simply gets worse over time as they add new stuff to generate revenue. Watch out for bait and switch packs where they give you less than what you pay for.

    There are in-game issues not resolved in 4 years. One is the Construction daily event doesn’t take you inside the keep (your city) to accomplish or start the task….. it just leaves you hanging around outside your city. Another serious set of tasks is that equipment can’t be refined usefully according to the characteristics of a particular piece of gear, whether helmet. Armor, ring etc. The helmet and leg armor has the most frequent mismatch between what is available to refine and what the gear capabilities are, so far.

    I have been playing this game now for 4 years. I love the battles, and the camaraderie. My main issue is with tech support. I have had numerous issues over the years, and the only thing I ever hear from them is they are sorry, they understand, and will look into it. They have never once helped with an issue, nor have I had a single positive experience with them. Even here, someone might say they are sorry, and if I could give them some more information they will try and help me, when in fact, that is all that will happen are words. I’ve spent in the area of a quarter of a million on this game, and I believe after spending that much the game would show its players a better support system. Too bad there is nothing below one star.

    3+ years. So much money that if I counted it, I would Run full speed off a cliff. Still unfair playing field. But now CIV gear is Free to Obtain. But it’s definitely not easy and it takes a long time. One piece for five months easy now you need three pieces you have five main generals 2 1/2 years. Special characters like the champions, you can only obtain four of them for free out of nine or 10 I think there is now each one cost $325. You have to spend $2000 or more to get a special castle. You think they would make them obtainable in other ways like you could earn fragments but they don’t. Things that you spend money on at the end of an event you think that you would get to keep it to save it so you could roll it over into the next event when it comes back, but they delete it. Many years in a game so it’s not enjoyable anymore. Rules regulations people are very uptight. In the beginning, it was fun. Resources to build are more readily available, and obtainable have also increased. Just beware if you’re signing up to play this game cost a house a new car your life savings and that’s not a joke. There’s people I’ve met have spent half a million and counting.

    They draw you in with the puzzles. Then you start to play the game and realize that the only way to win is to PAY TO WIN! EVONY support is nonexistent and only supports those who pay. The game is rigged against free to play gamers. For example, unless your alliance is a level 4 you can only rally a bit over 9 million troops to defend it. I have witnessed bigger alliances rally nearly 30 million troops. You have no defense against it. If you are a big spender they ignore your flagrant use of cheats, quid pro quo’s They do not get rid of bot alliances or rss sellers DO NOT PLAY this game Related is the non stop parade of new generals with ever increasing buffs making old generals obsolete So many fundamental problems and I will never get the lost time back
