Description

TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE - Plan, ride, track and share your adventures with the #1 rated motorbike navigation app. 200,000 public routes, 20 million hours ridden, 130 million miles logged.
GET THERE YOUR WAY - We’ve built a world for motorcyclists, helping you find the best routes with the twistiest turns, for paved touring and unpaved adventures. It’s not the destination that counts. It’s the journey. FIND THE ROAD - Straight, curvy, paved, dirty - Scenic lets you control your route like no other app. And with thousands of public routes to choose from, there's always road to ride. TAKE CONTROL - Plan routes by dropping via points and stops. Scenic will show you a route between them. Don't like it? Choose another routing mode, including curvy. UNLOCK EPIC RIDES - Scenic has a vast database of thousands of beautiful routes, shared and rated by local Scenic users worldwide. Select an area, tap 'Search', and see what comes up.
GO EXPLORING - Yet another way to get a great route... set the distance, then let Scenic generate a round trip for you in any given direction. Or a curvy route to a destination of your choosing. GET ORGANISED - Found a great route online? Have some lying around in Basecamp? Whether it’s a Google Maps URL or a GPX, KML, KMZ, GDB, or ITN file, import it into Scenic to keep all your routes in one app that’s built for adventure. FIND FOCUS - On-screen instructions, turn-by-turn navigation, and customizable detour behavior mean you can focus on the road, not your phone. When you do need to tap in, Scenic is designed to work seamlessly with your touch-enabled gloves, or one of the supported handlebar controllers. CHOOSE YOUR VIEW - Customize your map, toggling between built-in layers like traffic flow, safety camera alerts, and 3D buildings, as well as a huge list of POIs, including fuel and EV charging stations, motorcycle services, restaurants, hotels, and more! ONE STEP AHEAD - Dirt road visualization, elevation profiles, speed camera warnings, and traffic visualized on the map keep you prepared for what’s around the corner. GO OFF GRID - No data/reception? No problem. Scenic’s offline maps mean you can go where others turn back.
KNOW YOUR RIDE - Scenic not only navigates you, it also logs your location, speed, and elevation - helping you relive every moment, track your progress, and challenge your friends. SHARE THE ADVENTURE - Leave pictures and comments for other riders in the app, get a personalized web page of your routes and rides, or share your journey straight to social media.

CHOOSE YOUR VIEW - Personalize your map, seamlessly switching between visual layers like traffic flow and street view. Choose your own color codes to quickly identify and distinguish routes and a wide range of POIs, including fuel and EV charging stations, motorcycle service points, restaurants, hotels, and much more. * Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. ** Scenic has an optional yearly Premium Subscription with a free trial period, that gives you access to Premium Features (see scenic.app/premium for details). The subscription automatically renews after the free trial period, and then every year. The first payment will be charged to your App Store Account at the end of your trial period. It automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged within 24 hours prior to the end of each period. Subscriptions may be managed by you, and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings in the Apple App Store. First time I used the app I’m routed into a miles-long traffic jam. No warning or an alternative route served up. I lost almost an hour. I used Waze to get me out of there. Maybe I missed something in the settings. Disappointing.

So I was trying to use google maps to track my routes but it often got lost or confused. This app accurately show the turn by turn and even some of my awkward uturns without getting confused.
  • Terrible Motorcycle App!

This app is so confusing and so incredibly difficult to use. It is an exercise in how not to design a mobile app. If you have mountains of time to waste trying to find a decent motorcycle route than this app is for you!
  • It’s better than Apple Maps

UI is cumbersome and non-intuitive. Route planning is weak. I use Furkot for planning and then import the routes which is a less than ideal workflow. Importing the route can cause it to reverse so a detailed review is needed before setting out. This bit me on the butt today as it took me an hour to figure out what was happening. All that said the navigation was solid. Route direction is via eat the route and waypoint numbering. It would be nice to have a direction arrow every so often to see, in advance, which way you’re being sent off. It gets a little confusing if you have a phantom waypoint behind you and the software hasn’t cleared it yet. Bottom line is that it does do a good job once you get up the learning curve a bit.
  • A little frustrating

Difficult to zoom in and out pinching. Could be my phone but my phone doesn’t have this problem with anything else. Doesn’t show road #s until zoomed in close.
  • Don’t let the complexity put you off!

I tried several different motorcycle apps, but just couldn’t find any of that worked well enough to justify the cost. When I first tried Scenic, I was hesitant because it appeared pretty complicated. However, just reading an article or two and watching some of his excellent tutorial videos showed me that this is the app to use. Highly recommended!
  • Routing is a little flakey. One of the best, but still not as good as Apple or Google Maps.

I’ve only really used it three times, so far, but each time, if I veered off the prescribed route, it seemed to get really confused. I’ve set it to recalculate if I depart the route, and to skip the next via after two recalculations. Also, the “beep” is quite grating. It would be nice to be able to choose from a selection of tones.

Great update! Most updates in my experience are not upgrades but just a rearrangement of the App. Not this one.!!! Nice job Very useful updates.

I have been using Scenic for over 3 years and 60,000 miles with almost 40,000 of those recorded. I was an android user for years and when a friend gave me their old iPhone I decided to give Scenic a try and within a few months knew this app was the one. Previously I had used a number of different apps finding most of them to be not really mobile device friendly. All were lacking in features such as being able to easily edit an active route, import/export a route or quickly add a gas stop. The interface is clean with only the most essential features being available at your fingertips or wonderwheel in my case while in riding mode. The integration of the wonderwheel on the BMW bikes makes zooming in/out while riding easy as well as controlling music selection and volume, adding or finding the closest gas station or checking the weather. These can all be done without the wonderwheel by touching the screen for those without that type of integration. Turn by turn navigation has made my journeys into unfamiliar places easy and safe. I can keep my eyes in the road not constantly flitting back and forth between the road and a map in a tank bag or the phone screen. The web interface makes uploading gpx routes that have been shared via email, group chat or on a website very easy. Upload using the web app and it appears in the import section on mobile device… done. The new discovery feature where the community can submit rides that one can peruse to see what’s around them is great and becomes better and better as more of the community participates. Like many things of this nature the limitations comes from people not remembering to share routes publicly, a feature I should highlight. Your routes can be shared publicly including pictures that you can add to your route via the app. You can rate the routes and provide description. Cameras like the GoPro can be integrated into the app so you can have one control interface is also a feature. I haven’t used it, I don’t own a camera, so I cannot honestly speak on it. Support: another highly overlooked area when selecting an app. The support forum and Guido, the creator, has never failed me in 3 years in finding an answer to any question that has arisen for me. I have never had to contact Guido directly as I always find someone else already has and Guido has already posted the solution in the forum. Looking at dates of posted questions and the dates of his responses you can see that Guido is extremely responsive and concerned about resolving legitimate concerns. The forum community is active, enthusiastic and very supportive. Additionally Guido is a rider not someone simply looking to make revenue from developing an app from an activity they don’t engage. Scenic is from the ground up and app made by and for motorcyclists. Many others were made for car drivers and then the motorcycle widget was added but the functionality is still best for someone in a car, bicycle or hiking. If you are looking for a navigation app for your adventures get this one you won’t regret it. An android version is in beta testing.

Enjoyed the app put me on some great roads bypassing big cities. Still needs some refining. Can’t justify paying the monthly fee not saying it’s not a good app just don’t do enough long distance rides to justify paying for it.
