  • Wonderful Cooking App

I have used this app for a few years, but recently it underwent a very big change. At first I was resistant because I’m not the young social media type. As the app went through almost daily updates for weeks, I began to see the vision and the improvements. I now love this app and use it daily both in cooking and adding recipes. The development team is extremely responsive; I.e. just this week I got a new iPhone and it didn’t work, I suspected the new iOS. I emailed and got a response in about 2 hours in the evening. They concurred with the iOS but solved my problem in almost seconds. Wonderful and beautiful app and worth every penny.

Works like a dream - never have a problem. Has all the features you would expect and scanning works easily to add new recipes. Been using for years don’t want to ever use anything else.

I have been a user of Mastercook for many years but it has always been quirky, painful and has not kept up with the times. In a desperate search for something better, ChatGPT recommended this app to me. It is so good! Not only is it easy to use and works across several platforms, the customer service is amazing. They were able to help me transfer the 1300+ recipes that I have collected from my outdated Mastercook files. I can’t recommend this app enough!

I’m trying the CookBook app because the recipe manager I’ve been using is no longer updated. The interface is gorgeous. Adding recipes is easy. And cooking with the app today was seamless. I had a question and when I emailed their customer support, the reply was friendly, fun, fast, and useful. I’m excited to keep trying CookBook!

I’ve been using this app for years and they recently updated the app earlier this year. I lost half of the recipes I had saved and for the recipes that are still there the measurements are all messed up. Please fix the measurement system or I will have to find another app.

One night I woke up at 2am with one of those weird off-hand curiosities. I quickly made a note on my phone to look into it: ‘What if there was a way to digitally store my recipes all in one place, with all the details I love to track like ratings, when I last cooked it, customizable tags; but also with AI features to lighten my load… And most importantly, meal planning and grocery list consolidation.’ And here it is! I’ve played around with it for some time now and I am in love. I’m a lifetime user for sure!

I’ve used every recipe app on the store. None compare. The quality of import, look and feel, syncing , just work. This app is great and the devs are very responsive and helpful if you have any questions or needs. Can’t recommend enough.
  • The new update is awful

September 2025 update: so I’m back, and have lowered my review from 2 stars down to 1 star. I can only imagine they had to appease investors or something, for the way they’ve absolutely wrecked their app. Adding a text recipe is very clunky, when it should be arguably the easiest thing to do: The very first thing that comes up is an ingredients window. Uh ok. So you type out the ingredients and then click a green check with the word “Confirm.” A green check mark with the word “confirm” implies completion. It tells the user “click here when you’re done,” however, on Cookbook, it means “proceed to the next section.” That’s confusing. So now onto the next section …which is a disorganized, visually noisy page, where you can finally add a recipe title, add tags, a has a big annoying purple button to add an AI IMAGE (what???) Now where do I add the instructions? Oh. There it is. A very small, out of the way section toward the bottom. Onto notes: on recipes, you can put little notes for yourself, that will appear on the main page of the recipe when you open it. Did you know you had to press and drag, and that there is an invisible bar on the side? Neither did it. They have compressed the notes section so only a very small section of your notes will show, and start to gray out/disappear toward the bottom. You’ll instinctively try to tap on it, thinking it will expand the text. Nothing. You will have to tap press hold and drag and a little side scroll will magically appear to let you scroll through your notes. Again, not intuitive. You guys I’m sorry and I know you’re going to double down on this but… this update is not meant for those of us who were there from the beginning. Those of us who paid for the app, and dedicated hours, who used this in our professional kitchens and offices with staff. This app was made to impress someone (who? Teens on TikTok?) with jazzy AI features and a completely disorganized and not UI friendly structure.

I’ve had the CookBook recipe keeper for a few years now and have had nothing but positive experiences with it from day one. I purchased the lifetime subscription, and even though it seemed expensive at first, I can now confidently say it was a bargain for what I got. It has consistently worked flawlessly, the UI is clean and even has native dark mode, and the entire app is extremely simple to navigate. I finally had my first issue this week when I got a new iPad that came with iOS 26 - the app would crash as soon as I tried to open it. I sent a message to the developers who responded promptly (shout out to Sammy!) and were very friendly. Since they store all of my recipes on their end, I was able to safely follow their guidance to remove the app, then reinstall it. The whole process took less than a minute and my recipes loaded in immediately. If you’re thinking about getting this app, go on…do it…pull that trigger - trust me, it’s worth every penny and then some!
