I have used Microsoft Translator for many years. It’s been very useful. The only thing I need from the app to give it 5* is the addition of definitions. That way I know the app accurately interpreted the words I input. For example, if I type in “Pet,”the translation comes up with two Chinese characters “宠物”. Then, to double-check whether it understood PET, the noun, not PET the verb, I type in “To pet”. The same two characters come up. I flip the language translator and put the two characters in. It returns “pet.” Again, I don’t know which one it refers to or whether they are the same in Chinese.

I had few attempts to use this app. Unfortunately it’s not working for me. Messy, don’t translate all sentences.

Used this app to translate for someone who didn't speak the language during a talk in church. I can't describe just how much this app butchered the live translation. 😂 It was consistently something like "God was guiding me that day" but translated as "October Monday Monday". I had to look away from the app because I was start to bust out laughing and didn't want to distract anybody!

Microsoft Translator was capable of intrigrating into safari as a primary translator until Microsoft took that function away leaving us with Apple Translator that translates the bare minimum. But Google Translate just updated there app that intrigrates into Apple IOS which allows you to choose between Apples awful Translator or Google Translator which is a game changer for me.

I am the biggest fan of Google translator. I use it as a form of studying languages and to communicate with others. However, there is one gap they didn’t fill out, and that’s fast communication. Microsoft translator is beyond anything I have ever seen. It might not be as accurate but it delivers. I went to China for a friend’s wedding and talked to a lot of Chinese folks with this app. There is room for improvement but there is nothing that is as good as this.
  • Conversation Mode

05/13/25 Because I loved this app so much, I took an Uber with a Spanish speaker and thought I could pickup the app and just communicate with her. Unfortunately, I found there was no conversation mode. The I pulled up Google translator and boom! I was able to communicate easily. Guys, I know you guys have been more than generous for developing this app for free. Please allow me to ask for conversation mode. We are in the age of AI. I don’t think it should be too much to ask, correct? Thanks for the consideration. Prince 03/12/23 I just wanted to post an update and to say mega thank you for listening! Though the translation is not super accurate per my Korean Wife, I am so happy for the enhancement made to the app! I will leave the last star as perfection which I don’t believe it is yet, but it is by far better than any paid version I have tried! Keep up the good work! Prince First Review: Date forgotten. I think it would be helpful to be able to collect session transcripts live on-screen. For instance, at a Korean church that I attend, I find myself constantly pressing the translate button after every sentence. And since I can read everything, it is impossible to even see what was translated five seconds more or less ago. I would be extremely useful to be able to scroll backwards to make sense of the translation for better understanding. It would also help to have listened mode so that I can just set it for one way translation and forget it. Nonetheless, I really appreciate this app because nothing free or paid out there comes close—speaking of which, it is 2023. We should already have this down by default by now. Thanks for the consideration. Prince
  • Recent Update has stalled the App making it Unusable

I used to use the App in regards to characterized languages while I learned. If I had a question on what something meant or how to say it, it made it super easy and WAS the best app to help through the learning process. With the recent update, it can't even translate correctly, and it has all but broke the image to text function. Really disappointed with whoever's idea it was to promote "ease of usage" and confused that with efficiency when they added the Auto-Translate function. Not a smart move.
