  • Bring back the cleared and uncleared

Slight update: you can actually press down on a transaction to view the previous options including duplication which is a massive improvement actually. So, upgrading rating to three stars on that score, and because developer response was non-generic and indicated no chuckling over coffee. hiding of the cleared balance is still a huge pain. Original: I am still a manual importer. I like to keep the interactions minimal. I don’t want too many additional steps. Why add steps when we could view cleared/uncleared at the top? The grouping of the accounts into credit and cash took adjusting to, but it has definitely slowed down the speed I take to enter my transactions. I don’t know if the intent of these changes were to keep us more on the app?? Bring back the select option on transactions vs using an additional finger to scroll allll the way to the top. Honestly. Who decided to get rid of these things. I know ynab is not a very exciting product, roadmap-wise, but I personally think you guys have done a great job and should only stick to doing things that don’t involve rolling back things that work. Is it really that important to stay busy?? this has forced me to reckon with how this app is too much of a critical piece of how I manage my money. I don’t like it because you guys make awful changes and we just have to tolerate it no matter how many bad reviews you get. Like I’m seriously freaking out now. I know you guys are reading this and chuckling over your coffee. You know you have me.
  • Great Methodology & Ecosystem

The YNAB methodology has changed my family’s entire financial story. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to take control of their financial situation. I do wish that the mobile app had more reports available, such as the income v expense report or the spending report. It seems like the mobile app is falling behind there.
  • I am not paying you to advertise at me.

As a 6+ year YNAB user, Putting ads for your conferences in app is a slippery slope and erodes my trust significantly. Use your other channels (podcasts, YouTube, website) - it is very concerning you think it’s okay to do this to your paying customers. Don’t pollute your app, not okay!
  • Won’t let me sign up

I was really excited to use this app and it won’t even let me make an account, It was only giving options to log in. I tried for 30 mins and I couldn’t figure it out, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but it isn’t very accessible and I was very disappointed.
  • Poor Design Choices; Critical Loss of Confidence

The app meets expectations for the core functionality but the recent questionable design choices like removing the ability to select multiple transactions from the accounts view by default is unfortunate. I use YNAB because it’s logistically heavy, not to have yet another incredibly flat, overly minimal experience at the cost my ability to work through the app efficiently. Definitely doesn’t bode well for the future of this app when the design team starts making choices like this.
  • Recent changes cause more pain than ease

There are now more steps that must be taken to clear transactions. There are still no biweekly targets. Nobody listens to users feedback
  • Bring back the select option!

Removing the select button from the transaction list has made my reconciliation workflows take much longer. Please bring it back!

This is probably a great app. I also may not be the sharpest tool in the shed. If I have to spend more than 10 minutes and need to take classes to learn how to use the app, it is not the right app for me. Words to live by are Keep It Simple Stupid. The developers might want to keep the phrase in mind in the future.
  • Constantly removing features for no reason

Why do I feel like every update a feature I rely on is removed for no reason… I pay a ton of money for this app and it’s constantly intentionally broken. The latest is the missing account names on the new transactions pop-in. Why remove that?! What possible reason could you have for making it harder for me to categorize transactions? You guys are the worst
  • App is getting harder to use

The actual YNAB methodology and overall software is excellent, I’ve been a user for almost 10 years and I recommend it. However, the developers keep making changes to the iOS app that make my budget flow harder, more clicks, less intuitive, and uncustomizable. Their developers focus heavily on new users, instead of listen to current user feedback and they seem to have gotten more stubborn as feedback has mounted. The app is wildly underpowered and slowly getting more unusable as they make UI “upgrades”. Please bring back the easy transaction select, all account balances on an account page, being able to have accounts listed in the order we pick, and get rid of the slider for money moves. I’ve basically stopped recommending YNAB to others due to the price increase, bad UI changes, and what I feel is an increasing air of “we don’t care about our user’s opinions” from the developers and PR team.
